Another special music performance at Unity Church in Urbana.
I’ll be part of an ensemble playing music together & individually for a special all-music holiday service at Unity Church!
Once again I get to play a special Thanksgiving tune at Unity Church!
Another opportunity to share music & experience with the patients on the alcohol & drug treatment unit of the Pavilion, perhaps my favorite setting for performing.
I’ll be performing a half-hour set at the open house for DSC’s new downtown Champaign community work setting for adults with developmental disabilities.
In its 11th year, the Champaign-Urbana Folk & Roots Festival is a world-class event featuring top local, national & international performers, in addition to workshops, lessons, dancing, singalongs & activities for children & families, almost all free & open to the public. The headliner this year is Dom Flemons! I am performing an hour solo set this year at the Urbana Comminity Center for the Arts.
Another musical performance at Unity Church, a favorite spot.
My regular gig playing music & talking recovery with the patients at the Pavilion, something I always look forward to & enjoy. Plus, I get to help out by restringing & tuning a couple of guitars for the unit.
I always look forward to talking & playing music for adults in treatment at the Pavilion, my old stomping grounds … always very rewarding & appreciated.
One of my favorite recurring gigs! Performing at Unity Church in Urbana …
Sandra & I are really excited to host Gina Forsyth at our next Autumn Ridge House Concert! Gina is an old friend & a Soona Songs label-mate when recording with her folky female super-group, the Malvinas. I’m delighted to be playing an opening set yet again & we are likely to be graced with a reading from a local poet as well.
We’re really looking forward to hosting Bill Chambers, all the way from Australia, a talented singer-songwriter, a multi-instrumentalist, & just an all-around interesting character. We first saw him performing outside the Lincoln Center in NYC, accompanying his daughter, Kasey Chambers. Opening for Bill Chambers will be another Bill, our longtime friend & veteran singer-songwriter, Bill Passalacqua, or Bill Poss, as he is known in the biz. If we can fit me in, I’ll play a song or two as well. With all of that music, I don’t know if we’ll have room for a local poet, but maybe we’ll squeeze one in, as is becoming our new custom. Should be a great night!
The Autumn Ridge House Concert series continues to pick up steam! The next event will be on Friday, July 19, when Sandra & I will be hosting Ben Bedford. In keeping with tradition (ahem), I will be opening the show & we hope to invite a local poet as well, identity as yet unknown (??) …
I am VERY excited to be one of the musicians on the schedule of one of the friendliest, most comfortable, & high quality musical festivals around, the Moccasin Creek Festival, at Larson’s Landing on Lake Sara in Effingham, IL, hosted by Bill Passalacqua & Oliver Steck, & featuring such stellar performers as the Steel Wheels, John Fullbright, Darrell Scott, Slaid Cleaves, Will Kimbrough, Way Down Wanderers, the Accidentals, Chicago Farmer, Violet & the Undercurrents, the Howlin’ Brothers, Greg Klyma, Chain Station, Charlie Roth, Matt Poss Band, Taylor Steele & the Love Preachers, Anne McCue, Edward David Anderson, Jordie Lane, Michalan Boney, Motherlode, Feathered Mason, Paper Moon Shiners, Mr. Pancake … & me! I’ll be appearing on Saturday, June 22, on the Shady Stage, at noon. See moccasincreekfestival.com.
The next in our series of Autumn Ridge House Concerts, Sandra & I will be hosting Kyle Carey … I’ll be opening the show, along with a local poet TBA.
Always a great pleasure to play music for old & new friends at Unity Church in Urbana.
Bill Passalacqua & Taylor Steele will visit me on my radio show, From the Joshua Tree Inn, on WEFT, 90.1 FM (weft.org) (also on radiofreeamerica.com/station/weft), to play some music & talk about the upcoming Moccasin Creek festival, which is June 20 to 23 in Effingham, IL, & which will feature ALL of us on a stellar schedule, also including John Fullbright, Darrell Scott, Slaid Cleaves, Will Kimbrough, Anne McCue & many more … we’ll feature a lot of these artists on the radio program this evening!
Well, hot on the heels of playing at Exile on Main Street on May 4, I get to play there AGAIN, opening for my buddy Rupert Wates!
I am honored & excited to be asked by Jen & Eddy, The New Zeitgeist, to open for them in another friendly & familiar setting, Exile on Main Street, in Champaign!
What a nice surprise! I get to join my friend Gina Forsyth on stage at Neutral Grounds in New Orleans for a tune or two … my New Orleans debut!
Once again, I get to play music for a favorite audience at Unity Church in Urbana.
Sandra & I get to host our second house concert at our new home, this time with Greg Klyma, & I’ll be the opening act (again) (as usual). We have decided to call our house concert series Autumn Ridge House Concerts & I believe we are starting to get a following!
Once again, I get to play music & talk about recovery from drug & alcohol addiction with patients at The Pavilion, my old stomping grounds, where I used to be the director of the program … still one of my most rewarding playing experiences.
